Creating a High-Impact Campaign in One of Toronto’s Busiest Travel Hubs

Project Overview

In partnership with Billy Bishop Airport, this campaign was created to introduce visitors to Toronto’s vibrant Harbourfront neighbourhood while positioning the airport as a gateway to downtown. As the lead designer, I was responsible for developing video-based creative that would stand out in a busy, ad-saturated environment and drive engagement through strategic placement and messaging.

The Challenge

We needed to create a visually cohesive campaign that would blend two brand identities (Billy Bishop and Destination Toronto) while also standing out in a fast-paced travel environment. The ads had to guide visitors effectively to the next step—scanning a QR code to access a digital guide—and do so within seconds of visual attention.

What I Created

Campaign Messaging Collaboration: Partnered with a copywriter to develop the campaign line: "You've arrived at the gateway to Toronto's downtown."
Cohesive Visual Aesthetic: Designed a bold, unified look that merged the branding of both Destination Toronto and Billy Bishop Airport.
Dynamic Video Ads: Sourced and edited video footage to create motion ads spotlighting Toronto’s waterfront attractions.
Strategic Placement Design: Built assets for 13 placements throughout the airport, optimized for varying sizes, resolutions, and sightlines.
High-Visibility Layouts: Used bold colour blocking and reversed type for contrast and clear messaging, with prominent QR codes for seamless interaction.

Final Thoughts

This campaign was a rewarding opportunity to work across branding systems and mediums while embracing the challenge of catching attention in one of the busiest commuter environments. From messaging to motion, every element was crafted to welcome, inform, and excite.
